Equipment Talk “Microphones”

While modern cameras include built-in microphones for capturing audio, these mics are typically not designed for high–quality, clean audio, especially given the usual distance between the subject and the camera. For any videographer, an alternative audio source is essential to ensure the audio quality matches the excellent visuals.

At I Do Memories, I use the latest microphone technology from RODE. These devices are small, discreet, and can easily be placed in a pocket or clipped out of sight. Additionally, they allow a tiny lapel microphone to be attached, which can be placed right where it needs to be while remaining virtually invisible. This method allows the capture of great virtually clean audio of the chosen subject without any cumbersome technology on display.

We do still however record audio from all our cameras and an additional boom microphone that not only aids the synchronisation of all cameras and microphones but also provides multiple backups.

I have found that this method provides every vow, speech, and sound will be meticulously captured in great detail!
